I wanted to do one more home decor post now that I am settled in to my new apartment, and the obvious choice was to show you guys my walk-in closet! A walk-in closet has always been one of my “apartment dreams” and so when I bought this apartment and saw the “flex space” room, I knew exactly what I needed to do with it. Check out the  photos below to see how I designed my closet! I’ve also linked the different products I used to build my closet (where possible) as well as many of the shoes etc. you see pictured in the photos (just in case you like them too!)

I do have to keep a filing cabinet inside my walk-in closet (it’s the only place I have to keep it) so I decided that if I had to keep it in there, I might as well as make it look pretty by displaying some fun items on it! I love the Evelyn Henson Print & the Coco Chanel Book, and then I decided to display this adorable pair of undies I got while travelling through Amsterdam a few years ago.

As this was simply an empty space and not a preexisting walk in closet, I had to create the closet part myself. I went with the ClosetMaid system (available in store at Home Depot) but there are lots of great build your own sets out there. I also really like this system. This is also really cool if you are looking for something more temporary/adjustable.

My favourite part of my closet is this over the door mirror / jewelry storage unit. In small spaces (like my apartment) multi tasking is key – and being able to hide away all my jewelry while getting a full length mirror is PERFECT. I think every girl should have this is their closet/bedroom!

I hope you all enjoyed this peak inside my closet! For your convenience i have included links to all the products mentioned (as well as others I think would be perfect for a bedroom/closet) in the widget below!

  3. Soo much closet envy! I'm constantly moving and traveling so I never get to set up a dream closet, I guess I'll have to live vicariously through great closets like yours!

Haha thank you! I know how you feel – I've got a maaaaajor case of wanderlust! This is actually the first time since I was 18 that I've lived in the same city for 11 months straight!

Your closet is amazing; you did a wonderful job!! I am a rather creative person myself, but I doubt I would be able to do something this wonderful without the help of home contractors. My brother does have some contractual skills as a result of working for a contracting business a few years ago, so I'm sure he would be able to help me with the things that I couldn't quite get a hold on myself. You did and excellent job making your "apartment dream" a reality! Way to go!!!

Thanks so much Amy!! It was definitely a big project to undertake – but I am lucky I had the help of some friends and my dad!
