Brunches, Baby Showers, High Teas … these are events that seem to be so easy to dress for in the spring & summer. Fall/winter however? That’s a whole different story.
The cold weather brings its challenges when it comes to dressing for day time events. Where you would normally wear a cute dress in the spring/summer, in the winter you have the added challenge of not wanting to freeze your butt off.
This is an outfit that I tend to wear again and again for daytime events in cold weather. I wore this outfit a couple of weeks ago for a high tea (which by the way is definitely one of my favorite activities). The wine color is perfect for the fall and I like the heavier material. As far as tips for what to wear to a fall or winter daytime event there are some key things to remember. Check out my tips below:
What to Wear to a Fall/Winter Daytime Event:
1) Fall Colors
Dresses in burgundy, navy and emerald fit better with a brunch or tea in the fall than the softer colors.
2) Opaque Tights
The simplest way to make a daytime dress feel more fall/wintery is to add a pair of opaque black tights. Plus they keep your warmer (score!)
3) Ankle Boots
Trade out your heels for ankle boots for a winter event and your outfit will feel instantly more season appropriate
4) Add a Layer
While I didn’t wear a layer in this outfit, I often add a knit infinity scarf or fur snood to my outfit. Clearly not something you want to wear while eating brunch, but it’s great for commuting to-and-from your event.
