I tend to shy away from bold colors when it comes to work wear, and this spring I am definitely changing that. Pale rust / burnt orange is a color that has popped up in many designers spring and summer lines. So, I decided to try out the shade by going with these ridiculously comfortable tie waist pants.

My instinct was to wear the rust pants with a cream colored shirt and nude shoes (which for the record I do still think would look good!) but in the interest of mixing more colors into my work looks I decided to wear a dark cobalt shirt & matching shoes. Rust is actually a much easier color to style than people think. Jewel tones like dark blues, purples and emeralds all look great with rust.

I’ve been searching for a bucket bag for a while now, but I knew it would be a ‘fun’ bag as opposed to a daily staple, so I haven’t wanted to spend a lot of money on it. When I came across this green one under $30, I knew it was the perfect bag to add to my collection.

I really like how the color mixing in this outfit came out, and more importantly ,I am so happy with how comfortable it is. Those days when you just don’t want to wear pants (you KNOW you have them) these pants, and really this entire look, is the perfect go to.

  1. The two colors work super well together. I have a pair of rust colored culottes and I will be trying out this combo. Thanks.

  2. I love that rust color with the navy! I usually wear it with black, but will have to try this combo.

Oh, these are a fantastic style pant and the color is beautiful! I really like it paired with navy and enjoyed your other suggestions to wear with rust. Way to push your style boundaries, Lee! Thanks so much for linking up with Fabulous Friday!
