After the positive feedback from last week’s Nordstrom Anniversary Sale work wear review; I wanted to do one further NSale post reviewing some weekend wear. In my opinin every #bossbabe also needs a cozy weekend wardrobe! Specifically, I was on the hunt for the best fall and winter sweaters from the Nordstrom sale, so today I’ve got reviews of my favorite ones. Unless otherwise noted all of these are still in stock as of today – but get your hands on them fast as well all know how quickly the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale items sell out!
First up, the above tie hem sweater. This is hands down my favorite sweater from the sale! I love that it is a cozy ‘neutral’ that will go with anything, but the tie hem detail keeps it from being basic or boring. This sweater is perfection in my books! It fits true to size (maybe a touch big). I am wearing a size S petite (because they were sold out of regular). I would have preferred a size S regular for a bit more length but the petite isn’t that much different.
Cold Shoulder Tie Sleeve Sweater
The sleeve detailing on this sweater drew me to it when i saw it online, but it wasn’t until I found it in store that I knew i HAD to get it. It is lined with the fleeciest, softest, I-want-to-live-in-it material. I can’t wait to wear this this fall with black denim and boots! Once again it fits true to size.
Speaking of comfortable, this bell sleeve sweater by Gibson is the softest fleece material but it somehow doesn’t look like fleece (if you know what I mean). You wouldn’t know it was fleece without touching it – which I love! This would be a great basic to have in your closet this fall. Throw it on with jeans and a necklace and you are good to go! When it starts to get really cold this winter, this would also be so perfect worn with jeans, a touque and a puffer vest on top. I am wearing a medium in this and love the loose fit.
This is another sweater that I loved WAY more in person than online. What you can’t tell online, that I love, is that there is a normal sleeve layered underneath the pleated bell sleeve. This makes the sweater both comfortable and extra warm. This one is the Red Syrah color, but as you can tell, it is more burnt orange than red. I actually prefer that to a more classic red as it is such a great, unique piece for your fall wardrobe. I highly recommend this one!
This is another classic sweater (more of a shirt really since it is quite thin). I loved it in both the navy and black, so I had to share photos of both. The white trim on the flared sleeves is such a pretty touch. I found this fits a bit on the small side. I go between a small and a medium depending on the brand, and went with a medium on this, and find the medium to still be quite a tight fit (as you can tell). If you’re between sizes, I recommend sizing up!
This sweater only has size S left, so it may be sold out by the time this post goes live, so don’t shoot me if that’s the case! 🙂 In any event, this is actually a sweater I did not love and probably wouldn’t recommend. It definitely fits very, very large (I’m in a small and could have used an extra small). I like the baggy fit of the sweater, but the sleeves are SO LONG. They went well past my fingertips (as you can kind of see in the photo). For this reason, I wouldn’t recommend this sweater.
One of the (many) great pieces of style advice my grandmother gave me was that if you find cashmere on sale, you should ALWAYS buy it! I have taken this advice to heart and over the years have collected a fair few cashmere pieces that I adore – and i have never paid full price! This sweater is cashmere and is such a good price for the quality! I like the striped detail because it is so different than anything else I own. It is also a thicker sweater than one would expect from cashmere, which I like for the cold winter days. I recommend this sweater (and maybe also getting it in a second color!)
Cold Shoulder Sweater (One Shoulder)
I am not sure how I feel about this cold shoulder sweater. LOVE the cold shoulder concept (the strap part is a nice touch) but the fit I found a bit odd. I think this would look great on a straight/narrow body type, but on my hips/curves it did not seem to sit right. I felt a bit like a balloon. I’d recommend this sweater, therefore, if you have a straight build but to my curvy sisters I’d say it’s a pass.
