New York Fashion Week – Outfit Recap (Part 2)

September 16, 2017

As promised, here is part two of my New York Fashion Week outfit recap! Check out part one here if you missed it.

As I mentioned in part one, for my NYFW outfits, I wanted to have a general theme of providing my take on styles of power – be that traditional power (like the military inspired look in part one) or something a bit closer to home.

Outfit 1:

My first outfit is a look I created for fashion week, inspired by a much more personal source of power than the ones in yesterday’s post… this look was inspired by my grandmother. She passed away last year (you can read more about here and what an inspiration she was to me here) My grandmother loved leopard
print and when I saw this duster jacket I knew that I could style it in a more youthful, fun, way that still was reminiscent of her.

I paired the duster with a body con dress and the coolest ring handle bag. My grandma was a handbag connoisseur and I definitely think the faux-crocodile texture combined with the gold ring handle would be right up her alley. Also, ring handle bags are huge for fall – so I highly recommend you get one! Mine is sold out already (despite the fact that I only ordered it a week before fashion week) but I linked up two similar ones below.

Another trend this fall is deep v shoes. These black deep v mules are right on trend and are SO comfortable. I love them! I borrowed them from my friend Keyma (thanks girl!) and was comfortable the whole afternoon/evening in them!

In another take on a ‘personal source of power’ this outfit is inspired by my mom. My mom is such a fashionista; check out this post for some style tips from her. One style that I think of when I think of my mom is midi dresses. She always looks amazing in dresses of this length- and this is definitely a dress I can see her wearing.

My mom is also one to never be without a pair of oversized sunnies and a trendy bag, so I went with these massive black sunnies and my Cult Gaia bag dupe which I am obsessed with. This bag was huge this year, but I didn’t love the price tag. When I found this amazing lookalike for under $100 I snagged one immediately! I’ve linked it (and the actual Cult Gaia bag) below.

Outfit 3:

I have one final New York Fashion Week look for you guys. This one was probably my second favorite outfit (…second to my military inspired look from my part one post). This look was inspired not by one specific power style, but rather my own personal combination of things to make me feel powerful. It’s like my own personal fashionable power uniform.

What makes me feel powerful about this outfit is the layers. I love a classic white shirt dress (I mean, who doesn’t?) but adding a mini skirt on top gives it an edge. Add in a tight wrap around the waist and a killer bag, and you’ve got one powerful look. I’ve linked up all of the items in this look below!

And that’s it! I hope you guys liked my New York Fashion Week outfits. I’d love to hear what your favorite look is (and why!) As always, also let me know if you have any questions about sizing, quality or anything about anything I’m wearing!

In Outfit 1 that duster looks very pretty styled over the black mini-dress. The floral print dress in Outfit 2 is beautiful, and I love its hem! I also like the looks of both the white shirt-dress and the mini-skirt (is that embroidery or just a very pretty print?) styled in Outfit 3. I love the photos of you with your fellow fashionistas.
