It has been way too long since I did a fitting room review! My last fitting room review was in the spring! Clearly; it’s time to do another one. Going into the holiday season, budgets are always tighter so I thought I would share a fitting room review from Target – focusing on Who What Wear and A New Day pieces. These are on-trend labels that are actually affordable. You can update both your weekend and work wear fall style without breaking the bank.
Below you’ll find photos and reviews for 11 different items that are perfect fall fashion pieces. I’ve got work wear up first, and then some of my favorite weekend wear picks. I’ve linked the items at the top of each photo or you can scroll to the bottom of the post for a widget with ALL of the items in today’s post.
As always, if you have any questions about fit, quality, styling, etc.; let me know in the comments below and I will be sure to get back to you! Happy shopping!
WORK WEAR:
1. Contrast Piping Blouse // Black Culottes with Gold Side Buttons
Shirt:
This shirt is similar to the FRAME piped silk shirt that I shared as part of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale this summer that everyone LOVED. I seriously had so many people mention their interest in it – the problem? The FRAME version was over $200 (in fairness it was silk, but still). This similar contrast piping shirt with pockets and french cuffs is under $20 (insert happy dance here haha). The fabric is not amazing (what you would expect for $20) but it is comfortable. It runs a bit large so size down! (I am wearing a size S).
Pants:
I cannot get enough of crops / culottes right now. (you’ll see another pair below!) They are definitely one of the biggest trends in fall fashion – especially in work wear. That said, I doubt it will be a trend that lasts for more than a season or two so I don’t want to spend a lot of money on these pieces. These culottes are perfect in that regard! They are under $50 and also come in a houndstooth pattern. The gold snaps down the side of the leg really make these pants stand out! I highly recommend these! They fit true to size (I am wearing a size M) and the elastic fit is SO comfortable.
Tweed is such a classic work wear look, and this blazer nails it with the quality of the material and the contrast trim. the shape of the blazer (a boxy, cropped fit) is not for me; it just does not suit my body type. That said, if a boxy fit works for you, then this blazer is definitely a must-add to your fall wardrobe!
Animal print an be tricky- especially when it comes to work wear. If it is not well done it can look tacky so, so easily. I am not usually a fan of snakeskin as a print but when I saw this dress I instantly loved it. The print is well done such that it looks far more expensive than it is, and it is something that could be worn to work with a black blazer and pumps, but easily transition into an after-work drinks outfit with strappy heels and a statement necklace. The cut is really flattering- especially if you are curvy. The ruffle sleeves and the slight flare to the skirt give an illusion of a smaller waist. If snakeskin isn’t your thing, you should definitely still get this dress. It also comes in black!
If you are in need of a new basic blazer ( I tend to go through them quite quickly – I wear them so often) then this is a great option. I love the fit (a slight taper so it is flattering to the female body) and it is lined which is always a plus in a blazer. It fits true to size (for reference I am wearing a size 6).
5. Black Culottes with Gold Button Front Detailing
I told you I had a thing for culotte pants! I know, I know, these are very similar to the earlier ones I showed but come. on. Those gold buttons at the pockets?! Swoon! They’re like sailor pants and I absolutely needed them in my life. At under $50 you also don’t have to feel bad about adding them to your closet! These are also true to size (I’m wearing a size 6) though if you are hippy, I would suggest going up a size as I found they do pull across the front.
6. Cable Knit Jade Green Sweater
A cable knit sweater is a classic, must-have, fall item. It is perfect to wear to work with black dress pants to look polished, but comfortable. Jade green is one of my favorite shades for fall, so I jumped at the chance to style this sweater. This sweater does though come in ELEVEN (yep, 11) other colors, so I would recommend checking to find your favorites and grabbing one or two of these (they are under $20!!)
WEEKEND WEAR:
1. Cowl Neck Sweater (similar)
Oddly enough, I couldn’t find this exact sweater on the Target website. I did however find the same brand’s sweater in a more open/heavy knit (it’s otherwise the same) so linked that up instead. What I love about this is the length and the off white shade. This will be perfect for fall and winter weekends paired with leggings and comfy boots.
2. Crochet Knit Top (Dusty Rose)
I just LOVE this top. This is the exact top I would wear every day if I could. I am never sure how I feel about this cut of top (peasant style) on my body, so I actually asked my instagram followers in a poll when I was trying this on. The votes were split 75/25 and I just decided to go for it. I think I love this top so much because it feels like they really, really paid attention to detail. It would have been easy to just stitch the lace parts on from the waist line down, but I love that they carry the lace components into the sleeves as well. This top is probably my favorite of every item here (big praise I know!!)
This sweater is one of my favorite pieces in the Fall Who What Wear collection. I love the contrast waist band and cuffs and love the darker colored leopard pattern. I will say though that you should definitely size up in this sweater. I am wearing the small in this photo and it is definitely too tight (and short!) I know a fellow fashion blogger who also got her usual small in this sweater and went back to exchange it for a medium. Save yourselves the pain-in-the-butt that is returning clothes, and order 1 size up from the get go!
As soon as I saw this sweater I knew I needed to try it on because the draping is so interesting! That
said, interesting is not necessarily a good thing once its off the
hanger and on a body, so I wanted to check it out. I was so pleased by
how it fits / sits across the front of your body. The draping is perfect
and such a nice touch to an easy fall outfit! I’m wearing a size M to
ensure this looser fit.
And that’s it! What are your favorite pieces?
And,
What stores would you like to see fitting room reviews for in the future?!
