Striped Track Pants

Track pants are a huge trend in the fashion world right now. When they first started emerging in stores I was definitely on the fence about them (… I felt way too much like I should be in grade 8 gym class, trying to skip warm up, while listening to NSync on my walkman).  But, my oh my, has this trend grown on me. The difference between the 2000 era track pants and the on-trend pants of the moment, is in how you style them.

The interesting thing about track pants this time around is how they are primarily dressed up instead of down. The runways have been filled with track pants styled with Victorian high-collared shirts; menswear inspired blazers, and button-down shirts- as I am wearing here. You know how excited I get when there are fashion trends that are actually office appropriate; and track pants are definitely one such trend. Not to mention the added bonus of being work appropriate fashion that is oh-so-comfortable!

My exact track pants are sold out (they are from H&M) but you are in luck because I found a nearly identical pair which I will include in the widget below. To keep the look as office fashion ready as possible, I paired the pants with a classic V cut button down (I highly, highly recommend you grab a couple of these shirts if you don’t own them already. They are an office wear basic that will never let you down!). I wanted to keep the pants the focus of the outfit so I went with an all black belt in stead of opting for a something with a more distinctive buckle.

Finally – my boots! You can’t see much of them in these photos but they are burgundy patent ankle boots and trust me; they are awesome. I figured since I was going with a fashion trend that is a late 90’s throw back with the track pants, I might as well incorporate another trend that totally brings me back to my middle school days with these square toe boots. I love that the square toe look is coming back, if only because it is something different that can easily transform your outfit. (Especially with these particular boots because they are under $50! Such an affordable way to jump on this trend!)

I am genuinely so excited that are so many fashion trends this fall that are wear-to-work appropriate. Stay tuned throughout this month for more must-wear items. Are there any fashion trends you are wondering how to style for work? If so, let me know!
