Dress c/o // Heels // Earrings
Like many of you, I look at Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, as one of the biggest style icons of our generation. I love how she mixes classic style with chic silhouettes and youthful detailing. She looks classy, professional, but still fashion forward. Whenever I see links to items Kate Middleton is wearing, I always try to shop them. Unfortunately, nearly every item she wears sells out almost immediately – especially the more affordable pieces.
Luckily for me, a few months ago I stumbled across Etsy seller HeartMyCloset. Cynthia of HeartMyCloset is a talented seamstress who recreates celebrity dresses and outfits. She has a ton of listings on her page of dresses worn by Kate Middleton, as well as other celebrities. Even better though, you can send her a photo of a dress you like and she can work with you to custom make that dress for you.
The Kate Middleton inspired dress I am wearing was one of her preexisting listings. Below is a photo of the original dress as worn by Princess Kate.
Cynthia sent me this dress in exchange for my review; but (as always) all opinions and reviews are my honest opinions. Once I selected this dress as the one I wanted her to make for me; the real fun began! I didn’t realize at first that in addition to her custom making these pieces to your exact measurements, you can also choose from a number of fabrics and colors. As you’ll notice, Kate Middleton’s dress is a pastel blue, but I knew I would prefer this dress in a dark navy so that is what I had Cynthia create. It looks so much like Kate Middleton’s dress; I was thrilled!
I was a bit unsure about taking my own measurements (Cynthia sends customers a list of the measurements she needs and how to take them) but clearly it worked out even with my novice measuring skills, as the dress fits like a glove!
I cannot recommend Cynthia highly enough to anyone wanting to re-create Kate Middleton’s style; or really to recreate any dress you have seen that you love. Cynthia was a pleasure to work with and I am in love with my Kate Middleton inspired dress.
In other news, Liz from Lizzie in Lace interviewed me for her blog recently, and the post went live yesterday. If you’d like to know more about me (my career path, how I got into blogging, blogging challenges, etc.) be sure to check out the interview here!
You are looking too lovely dear! You surely got the best seamstress! I love navy and it really compliments your skin tone too damn well. And the pop of red lipstick just looks gorgeous!

Aw thank you so much Ashley!! So glad you like the dress. I can’t wait to create copies of more of her outfits; she has the best style!
Does it wrinkle easily?
So far no! It was bit wrinkled when I opened it (still is a bit in the photos here) but once those wrinkles came out (I steamed it) it hasn’t wrinkled since – and I wore it for an 8 hour court day yesterday!
