… Can you guess just by looking at this first photo? The fashion trend I never thought I would wear is… belt bags.

Belt bags are everywhere in fashion this season. Also referred to as a fanny pack, bumbag, or hip pack, the belt bag is a trend that you will not want to miss this spring and summer! I was so hesitant when I first started seeing belt bags on runways and in magazines. Cue traumatic flashbacks to my pre-teen years and my dad trying to make me wear a fanny pack on school trips haha. Anyone else?!?!

Luckily, the ‘fanny pack’ of the 90s *shudder* is not the fanny pack or ‘belt bag’ of today. Today’s belt bags are fashion forward – you can find ones in beautiful leather or vegan leather, with on-trend details such as studs or ribbon and, most importantly, you can find them in different sizes and shapes.

The white faux leather belt bag I am wearing was one I purchased on a whim; simply adding it to a cart of items I already planned on ordering. At under $30 it seemed worth the risk (in case I did end up hating it). As soon as I opened it though, I knew I was hooked. It is far nicer looking in person than on the site-  the faux leather is a crisp white and is quite well made. It’s small; which is what I wanted for my first foray into this belt bag trend. It holds my phone, ID, keys and a lipstick. It wouldn’t fit a full size wallet; but I don’t mind that – I just take whatever cards/cash I need and carry them loose in the bag.

But what I love most about this bag??  The stripped ribbon belt gives me major Gucci vibes – which for under $30 is pretty darn awesome!

As far as the rest of my outfit: You may remember this off the shoulder bankers striped shirt from my New York Fashion Week Outfits. I cannot stop wearing this shirt – I love it so much. It is however not a practical piece – it has no buttons and is only held closed by whatever belt you wear. For this look, when I knew the belt was looser than what I wore at NYFW and thus may not successfully hold it the top in place, I safety pinned it on. I’ve linked up the exact top (which is now on sale – so even more worth it even if though it’s not the most practical!) and I did also link up a similar shirt with actual buttons for those of you looking for more practicality.

My pants here are my ride-or-die pants which you’ve seen me wear more times than I can count haha. They just work as the perfect wardrobe staple. Accessory wise, I opted for my dark red bow heels (similar options linked below), my heart locket necklace, and some dramatic statement earrings. To me. this is a fashion forward, but still work day practical outfit. My favorite kind of look!
