I’ll admit it, I am 110% on the palazzo pants bandwagon. These striped palazzo pants are probably my new favorite work day piece, and I plan on wearing them to the office a lot this summer. The great thing, generally, about palazzo pants is how flattering they are. The cut nips in at the waist and is loose through the leg, making your waist seem smaller. Also, the loose fit is so darn comfortable.

I adore these particular striped palazzo pants for a few reasons. First, I love the contrasting direction to the stripes. Such a gorgeous, chic look! Second, they are a really thin lightweight material, perfect for a summer day. Finally, I love them because I was really wary about what they would be like since they have a $13 price tag. I could not have been more happy when I opened them! The quality is surprisingly good and they are exactly as pictured. This is probably my favorite ever item from SheIn (which has very hit and miss items).
The palazzo pant trend will be everywhere this spring and summer, and since it is totally work appropriate do yourself a favor and get a few pairs. If you are unsure about the trend, just stick with a pair (like these striped ones) that isn’t an investment so if you don’t wear them more than a couple of times it won’t be a big deal.
I also have to talk about this stunning button down shirt from The Shirt Muse; an Australian based women’s wear line, focusing on creating tailored, well-made pieces for work. The quality of this shirt is obvious from the moment you open it – the material is thick but not stiff, and the stitching is beautiful. It is also well fitted, which I am shocked about, since I always have a hard time finding button down’s that don’t gape at the chest (.. y’all know what I mean!) It is clear that this shirt is designed with female figures in mind and fits accordingly.
Also, the lace trim at the sleeves is just gorgeous!!
So there you have it; an easy work day look for your Monday morning. I love that the combination of a button down shirt and palazzo pants is fashion forward while still feeling conservative enough for even the strictest office.
In other news: holy heck do you guys have things to say on the topic of women (sadly) not supporting other women in the workplace!! In case you missed it, on Friday afternoon I went on a bit of a rant about this issue on my instagram. (The videos are saved on my instagram under the ‘career’ highlight – so you can go watch if you missed them!) I was blown away by the amount of feedback I got on these videos. Turns out so many of you are finding that it is the women in your workplace, not the men, who are tearing you down or making things difficult. That is SO frustrating and disappointing!
I know change isn’t going to happen over night, but I do believe that if our generation wants that to change we can make it happen. Start finding ways to support your colleagues – be that taking a new girl out for lunch to go over some “office must-know’s”, supporting a co-workers side hustle by buying their lipstick, protein shake, etc., or just being vocal about your praise and admiration of your colleagues. Pledge to do one little thing today to support another women you know. I’m going to!

This outfit looks fab for work! I think wearing the right outfit is so important for giving confidence – and therefore to get what needs to be done. Sad some women feel threatened enough to try to tear other women down. x
Thank you so much! I love this look for work – I felt confident but still fashionable. And yes, I so agree – I think you’re right that it comes down to feeling threatened. Threatened by others’ success; or simply threatened by what they don’t understand. With regards to other (more senior) lawyers judging me for having a blog, I think it comes down to a ‘fear’ almost, in that it’s simply something they don’t understand and therefore they immediately want to judge and criticize it. I think they need a bit of a reality check that that it’s 2018 and people can have more than one career path, more than one income source, and most importantly more than one passion!
Love the pants! This look is just the cutest on you!
