One of the hottest trends for summer this year is vintage style; be that a 1950’s style headscarf and oversized sunnies, or a 1960’s vibe like this two-piece set. I am beyond in love with this striped set! By now you know my love of palazzo pants (like these striped palazzo pants, or these checked palazzo pants) but these striped ones are by far my favorites! Possibly because they are part of a matching two-piece set; and thus right on trend for summer 2018. Read on for more about the two-piece set trend for summer 2018!
The 1960’s are back in a big way this summer. You’ll see tons of white thick-rimmed sunglasses, mod colors, and mini shift dresses. My favorite vintage trend for 2018 though is matching two-piece sets; like this striped palazzo pant set.
This two-piece set could easily be worn buttoned up for a more covered look, but since it is already a loose outfit, I like the more modern look of wearing it unbuttoned with a tank top or bralette. My ‘bralette’ here is actually a sports bra, and I can’t recommend it enough! It’s under $25 and will work with so many of your outfits for summer. … You know, in addition to it’s actual intended use of being worn to workout lol.
Two-piece sets are great because not only are they chic and on trend, but they are so easy to style! When you’re not in the mood to coordinate an outfit it is super easy grab a two-piece set and all you need to add are shoes and a handbag.
Speaking of handbags – how great is my straw cross body bag?! I jumped on the bandwagon of straw bags early on. I love the “it bag” of the season – the bali harvest round rattan bag as much as the next woman, but I have been wanting to branch out and add to my collection. What stood out to me about this bag was the more classic square shape and the faux leather top. I like that this bag is taking the straw trend and making it more structured and accessible for every day use.
One thing I did want to mention about this specific striped two-piece set is the color. If you check it out online, you’ll see that the color is ‘red’. Fair warning (as you can probably tell from these photos) I would definitely call it more orange than red. I’d probably call it ‘tomato’ if I had to name it! Whatever color it is, it is such a bright, beautiful shade for summer.
In addition to sharing this striped set, since matching sets are so on trend for spring & summer, I wanted to share with you a few other matching two-piece sets that are my personal favorites right now. Check them all out below!
