A few months ago I started working with Delta Laser & Skincare Centre on improving my skin, and I have been thrilled with the results. Today I wanted to share with you a bit about my skincare path and what is finally helping me have great skin. Let’s talk about my skincare regimen for mature acne-prone skin.
My skin has been a challenge for me for literally 21 years. I was 10 when I started getting acne. By age 12 it was so awful that I could barely sit comfortably because my back had such bad cystic acne that it literally hurt to lean back. I tried everything over the years to combat my acne – from birth control pills, to tetracycline, to proactiv / rodan & fields, and even Acutane – a very intense drug.
My skin definitely improved after the course of Acutane, but I have still been plagued with mild breakouts my entire adult life. This has really bothered me the past few years as I have seen my skin start to change with age (ahhh) and witnessed (with envy) my friends moving into anti-aging treatments for their skin.
Because of my acne I have always had to use harsh acne products leaving my skin getting duller, less tight and with increasing fine lines. Basically I’ve needed a skincare regimen for mature acne-prone skin, that actually addresses anti-aging while working to prevent breakouts.
Enter Delta / Lougheed Laser (they have two locations in B.C.). Delta Laser is owned and operated by Dr. Marcia Fleming, who founded in the clinic in 1996 as a response to the growing number of women wanting non-surgical alternatives to address their skin and cosmetic concerns. Today they offer all the latest technological treatments, as well as sell skincare products they know and love.
I actually go to Delta Laser for a number of cosmetic procedures (including Botox; because of which I did a post on breaking-down the truth about Botox) but today I want to focus on what Delta Laser has done specifically for my skin.
Delta Laser proscribed me a line of skincare called Zo Skin Health. After assessing my skin and it’s needs, the Delta Laser staff formulated a specific skincare regimen for my skin, and I have loved the results!
My Daily Skincare Regimen:
AM Skincare Regimen for Mature Acne-Prone Skin:
– ZO Foamacleanse (Gentle Foaming Cleanser for All Skintypes)
– ZO Rozatrol (Serum Treatment for Red, Sensitive Skin)
– Clinique Moisture Serge (only on days when my skin needs an extra boost of hydration)
PM Skincare Regimen for Mature Acne-Prone Skin:
– ZO Exfoliating Polish (this is such a gentle scrub that actually feels like it’s deep cleaning. I’m hooked)
– ZO TE Pads (Acne Pore Treatment – it’s basically a cleansing wipe)
– ZO Ommerse (Anti-Aging Renewal Cream)
– ZO Brightenex (Skin Brightener and Correcting Cream)
The results have been really impressive so far. Now, I do still have pretty significant acne on my jaw line and neck – but to be honest I don’t think there’s any skincare line that could fix that – it’s a hormonal issue and I am working with an endocrinologist to try to sort that out. So, beyond the ‘no skincare could ever fix this aspect of my acne’ issue, I don’t have any ‘regular’ breakouts on my face at all, and the best part is that I am getting anti-aging benefits as well.
My skin is visibly brighter (thank you Brightenex!), my pores are noticeably smaller, and generally my skin feels like a friggin baby’s butt. It’s so soft!
I would highly recommend these products to anyone with skin issues similar to mine *cough* mature acne-prone skin *cough*, and in general would recommend Delta Laser to anyone wanting to get serious about their skincare.
Thank you to Delta Laser for providing me with a skincare regimen.
