Leave it to J Crew to create a well-fitted, well-made blazer in a ridiculously fun bright color. I am head over heels in love with this yellow blazer and today wanted to talk all about styling bold pieces for the office and what to wear with a yellow blazer! … And yes, you may have caught in my instagram stories that I wore this exact outfit to the office last week! I had a (rare) day out of Court getting to prep for trial, and this outfit was perfect for that.
When you find a bold item, like this yellow blazer, it can be tempting to ‘tone down’ the rest of your outfit, especially when you are styling it for work. The thing is though, that bold-on-bold can actually work really well and create an outfit that is chic and exudes professional confidence.
The key is to stick with pieces that bold because of their pattern or color, but that still have a professional tailored shape. It’s why this blazer works so well… and so do the striped culottes!
In Friday’s post I talked about how culottes are a summer work day staple. And they really are! I’ve now got four pairs in my closet and can’t recommend them enough as a great way to update your wear-to-work wardrobe for summer.
The striped culottes are a perfect compliment to the yellow blazer. When thinking about what to wear with a yellow blazer, navy is a classic option. For a more bold ‘what to wear with a yellow blazer’ outfit, the ‘bankers stripe’ look (as we have in these culottes) is a great choice.
I went with all white pieces to finish off this look; a classic white button down shirt and my new favorite white heels. I know you are probably sick of seeing them on the blog but they are just so freaking comfortable. I have never found cheap heels that are comfortable so these were a such a pleasant surprise!
And that’s it for today’s outfit! I’ve got a very busy Monday ahead (and entire rest of my week quite frankly) but having spent the weekend camping with friends at Harrison Lake I feel really recharged and ready to take the week on!
