Last year one of my most popular posts of the summer was my fitting room review of Nordstrom anniversary sale work wear. I couldn’t wait to share this with you again. I know there is a ton of Nordstrom anniversary sale content out there in the blogosphere right now, so I am bringing you specifically wear-to-work pieces, giving you my honest review of each piece, and giving sizing/fit information. Let’s get started:
tie neck blouse – $249.90 ($375 after the sale)
Overall:
This tie-neck blouse is one of my favorite Nordstrom anniversary sale work wear pieces; and one of the few high-price point items I’ll be splurging on. This is one of those pieces that will take you from season to season, from year to year. Absolutely worth the investment; especially while it’s $125 off!
Fit/Quality:
This fits true to size. I’m wearing a small. If you’re tall / long waisted though, you may want to size up so the peplum doesn’t sit quite as high on your waist.
double breasted black blazer – $94.90 ($142.00 after the sale)
Overall:
So this one is my actual #1 favorite item from the NSale. This blazer is SO flattering – the cut skims your body creating a silhouette without being too tight for an office environment. This blazer also comes in grey plaid (which I also might get) but if you’re only getting one, definitely get this black blazer!
Fit:
Runs a tiny bit big; so I would stick with your usual size but if you are between sizes then size down. I’m wearing a small.
Bell Sleeve Striped Top – $29.90 ($40 after the sale)
Overall:
I like this top because I can see it being an easy piece to pair with a pencil skirt for a day in the office, but it will also be great on the weekends with a pair of denim. It’s also really soft and the sleeves are actually that perfect just below your wrist length.
Fit:
This fits true to size! I’m wearing a size small. It is really long, which I think is particularly great because you won’t have to worry about it coming untucked from a pencil skirt.
Ruffle Shoulder Detachable Sleeve Sweater – $78.90 ($119.00 after the sale)
Overall:
I really, really wanted like this sweater. I was intrigued by the detachable sleeves – I figured the vest part would look great over a white button down. But, I am sorely disappointed in this sweater. If you look closely at the ruffle shoulders they sit really weirdly – they aren’t at your shoulder but a bit lower. I’d pass on this one.
belted pencil skirt – $58.90 ($89.00 after the sale)
Overall:
I love this skirt! I tend to shy away from pencil skirts because the shape is rarely flattering on my hips/thighs, but the heavier material and length of this skirt make it much more flattering than a typical pencil skirt. I also love the belted detailing.
Fit:
This fits small. I’m usually a 4 but am wearing a 6 here. I’d definitely size up a size (and if it’s a bit big you can adjust the belt anyway for a tighter look at the waist).
Pink blazer – $131.90 ($198.00 after the sale)
Overall:
Unsurprisingly, JCrew has done it again with their fall/winter work wear line. I love that they are bringing out this millenial pink shade into the fall – while pink is usually reserved for spring and summer it was all over the runways for fall/winter collections and I am loving it.
Fit:
True to size! One of the many nice things about JCrew is that once you know your size you can count on that being your size in all of their pieces (I hate when that is not the case with brands!) I’m wearing a 6 here.
blazer – $56.90 ($85.00 after the sale) // pants – $31.90 ($48.00 after sale)
Overall:
I know, I know, this is the THIRD double breasted blazer I have shared in this post. I can’t help it! The Nordstrom anniversary sale work wear is all about that double breasted blazer. It’s one of the biggest trends for fall/winter. I love the vintage 80’s feel to these blazers, and this suit overall. Plus, the slouchy fit is SO comfortable!
Fit:
I would size down if you are between sizes; it does run a bit large.
Peplum Hem Jacket (Blazer) – $99.90 ($149.00 after the sale)
Overall:
The tweed material is actually quite fine woven/thin for a tweed which I really appreciate because it feels lighter, softer, and is just less bulky. It’s also a unique peplum shape and I love the stripe detailing up the centre.
Fit:
Fit runs true to size. I am wearing a small.
And that’s it for today! If you have any questions about any of these pieces definitely let me know in the comments below. I’ll be sharing a similar post on Friday with all of my weekend wear picks; so stay tuned for that as well!
