I’m calling it now ladies. This tie-neck dress is the wear to work dress of the summer. Seriously, it is one of the most beautiful work day dresses I’ve ever seen. I’ve worn it to work twice already and received so many compliments on it! I also had it on in some instagram stories last week and received multiple DM’s asking about it. I’m excited to finally be sharing it with you here on the blog.

One of the best things about this tie-neck dress is that in addition to being beautiful, it is both comfortable and flattering. I’m pretty tall, 5’8, and so wear to work dresses can often be too short on me. Not the case with this tie-neck dress, which actually hits perfectly at my knees.
Size wise, I go between a 4 and a 6 depending on the item and in this I am wearing a size 6. So, I would say stick with your regular size for this dress, unless you are between sizes in which case size up like I did.
The dress zips up the back (and seems to have a quality zipper which is such a win) and the tie at the neck is self-tied so you can make it as loose or tight as you wish, and you can make the bow has big or small as you wish. It’s fantastic.
I’ve heard people say that you can’t wear black and navy together; it’s a fashion faux-pas. I couldn’t disagree more! When it comes to work wear one of my favorite color combinations is navy & black. The key to wearing navy and black together, is to make sure the colors are distinct enough.
If your navy is so dark that it could almost be black, then you just look like you grabbed the wrong item from your closet. However when you pick navy and black pieces that are very clearly different shades, then the combination can look really professional and put together.
As you can see I paired this navy tie-neck dress with black accessories; some comfortable black patent pumps and a black handbag I recently got from Aldo. I usually need to carry a huge back for all of my work day files (my go to, as you may know is the Tory Burch York Tote) so on the rare day that I don’t need a big bag, I love smaller structured bags like this one!
In other news, I head to Los Angeles on Sunday for a quick trip and I am so excited!! I’ll be there for my friend Jess (Miss Moore Style)’s bridal shower, I’ve got some blog collaboration meetings set up, I’m going to catch up with an old friend who I haven’t seen in years; and I am going to be shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. It is going to be such a great trip. Tune in to my instastories if you want to follow along on my travels!
