Stripes are such a classic pattern, and in a lightweight blazer they make the perfect piece for a summer work day. I’ve seen a few lightweight striped blazers hit stores this spring/summer so today I’m sharing how I style mine and some thoughts on what to wear with a striped blazer.
I got this striped blazer a few months ago (and am sharing two different ones in the widget below!) and have been waiting for summer to start wearing it to the office. This look is one I wore last week. As far as what to wear with a striped blazer; I always recommend sticking with a neutral slim-fit t-shirt or tanktop underneath and a classic black dress pants or a pencil skirt.
That said, you don’t need to keep everything basic when styling a striped blazer. Since it is a classic pattern you can easily incorporate one statement item to complete your look. Personally, I would go with a bold pair of pumps or a fun handbag.
If you’ve been reading LegalLee Blonde for a while, you’re likely aware of my love of belt bags… see exhibit A or exhibit B, haha. When it comes to my work wear, I’ve recently started styling belt bags over top of my blazers/suit jackets.
A belt bag over a blazer creates an additional flattering line to a work look. Blazers/suit jackets can be bulky and a bit shapeless, so belting them with a belt bag is a great way to create some shape. Plus, being handsfree when you’re running out for a coffee or carrying a number of files and documents around the office is such a sweet bonus!
In the widget below I’ve linked up my exact belt bag, and also two other similar ones at different price points! If you have been considering the belt bag trend but have been too hesitant to pull the trigger; these belt bags are all affordable and in a classic black chevron or quilted shape, are neutrals that will go with a number of outfits. The perfect starter belt bag.
As far as the rest of my outfit today; my pants are my newest banana republic addition. They are the slimmest legging fit, and I’m not sure I’d wear them everyday to the office, but they are great go to for those days when d*mn it you just want to wear leggings and the world is forcing you to wear pants (… I know you know what I’m talking about haha).
My sunglasses and shoes are staples in my wardrobe that you’ve probably seen on here or at least in my instagram stories before. These sunnies are the perfect cat eye, and are under $25. I never spend a lot of money on sunglasses because I know I loose/break them all the time. This is actually my third pair of these exact sunnies! My shoes are my go to’s when I need a break from stilettos. I love the thicker heel and the suede material. All in all, this outfit is my favorite take on what to wear with a striped blazer.
Alright lovelies. Let’s take this work week by storm. Do you all have busy work weeks ahead? This week is actually relatively slow for me; which means I’m going to focus on a lot of goal planning and list-making (seriously my favorite things. I am such a list addict). I’ve also really got to take some time this week to organize my upcoming travel plans. I head to LA for a couple of days on Sunday and I can’t wait!
