I asked on my instastories last weekend for your thoughts on what you wanted to see more of here on LegalLee Blonde. A ton of you asked for more guides /advice on choosing what to wear to work. In the light, I came up with this post. An easy shopping guide for you busy boss babes that answers the question “what to wear to work for fall and winter”. Keeping in mind the fashion trends of the season as well as staying professional and office appropriate, I’ve got 6 pieces to add to your work day wardrobe this fall / winter. I’ll share a widget below each item with a bunch of different options at different price points. Let’s get to it!
6 Pieces to Add to Your Work Day Wardrobe
this Fall / Winter
Glen plaid is a pattern that is hugely popular this fall, and said popularity will continue into winter. The great news it is that is an easy trend to style for work. Glen plaid pants are a perfect pairing with a light sweater, or blazer for a day in the office. Rebecca Minkoff makes a gorgeous pair that I definitely have my eye on. There’s also a beautiful Rebecca Minkoff track pant style pair that I want for weekend wear!

I listed this as one of the biggest street style trends from NYFW, and for good reason! Statement belts are everywhere this season, and they are easy way to update your wear to work style. For that reason, it had to make it to this list of pieces to add to your work day wardrobe this fall / winter. Statement belts can be worn over a button up blazer to make a regular suit pop, but still be completely professional. ShopBop has a ton of great statement belts, and I’ll link up some of favorites below. Also, people always ask about my Gucci belt – and it’s actually a Gucci Belt Dupe! It’s under $20 and surprisingly good quality. I’ve worn it probably 30 times in the past 4 months I’ve had it and it still looks great.

Upgrade your work wear this fall by treating yourself to a cashmere sweater. A cashmere sweater paired with black dress pants and heels is an effortless professional work outfit. Plus as an added bonus it’s really comfortable. I know the price can be a barrier for some people, but if you are in a position to splurge on something right now, a cashmere sweater is well worth the investment.

4. Midi Boots
This is a trend I did not expect, but I am totally on board with because it is so flattering! One of the best pieces to add to your work day wardrobe this fall / winter is a pair of midi boots! These are boots that are come higher than ankle boots and hit somewhere low to mid calf. Paired with tights/pantyhose and a work day dress, this is a great look for a fall / winter day at the office. Sitting lower on the leg also elongates your legs. Winning!

Flared Pants are back baby! Welcome to 1998 haha. These are perfect on trend item to add to your wear-to-work closet for fall/winter because you can style them as you would any of your other dress pants. Ie. no worrying about what to wear them with; they will look great with your favorite sweater, that button down blouse you love, etc.

You likely got into the mules trend last fall/winter. The cozy style of a faux fur trimmed mule was one of the most popular shoes of the season. This fall/winter add a high heeled mule to your work day wardrobe. These are the trendiest shoes for fall, and since you can get them at all price points they are a great way to update your wardrobe on a budget.
