Happy Friday! I have been wanting to share this fall weekend outfit with you guys for ages, but wanted to wait until a Friday since it’s so perfect for a Friday night or weekend look. I really like the corduroy mini skirt trend that we’re seeing this fall, and when I saw this camel colored faux wrap one for under $30, buying it was a no brain-er.
My go to look for fall for a date night, drinks with friends & even general weekend adventures is definitely a mini skirt, a turtleneck, and over the knee boots. This pairing worked so well with my new faux wrap corduroy mini skirt, but honestly is a great outfit pairing with any mini skirt. This corduroy mini skirt actually comes in two other colors as well… I’m tempted to get it in hunter green as well!
So as you can probably tell from the above, I have one go-to outfit formula for fall:
Turtleneck + Mini Skirt + Over The Knee Boots
For that reason, I highly recommend investing in turtlenecks & over the knee boots this season. Here are some great black turtleneck options, and here are some black over the knee boots. I personally like black suede over the knee boots because they feel cozy and ‘fall like; but I’ve definitely seen bloggers rocking leather (or faux leather) OTK boots with this “outfit formula” so if you prefer the look of leather, you do you girl!
The one thing I will say about this mini skirt is that it is on the short side. For reference, I’m 5’7 1/2. It’s funny because at 21 I would have worn this and not considered it remotely short. I think I’m getting more conservative with age! If you’re 5’6 or shorter this will be the perfect mini skirt length (mini, but not too short). If you’re taller, like myself, just be aware that it may feel short on you. I just wear booty shorts underneath it and then feel fine with the length, but I wanted to give you all a heads up!
On a non-fashion related note, what are your favorite fall activities, fall recipes, etc? I am in full on gaga-for-fall mode at the moment (were at about the same level of excitement as my grade 8 self had for going to an N’Sync concert.. just for frame of reference).
My fall activity list at the moment consists of: taking my nieces to a Halloween event at Van Dusen gardens here in Vancouver, pumpkin carving, baking pumpkin things, and dressing up for Halloween. What else would you guys recommend I add to my list?! Let me know in the comments below! (… bonus points if it’s an activity I can do in this outfit formula… kidding. Sort of. haha).
