This Harper Rose dress arrived at the perfect time – that busy time of year when you’re often going from the office straight to a dinner or drinks event. This a-line dress is office appropriate, but the stand collar with the pearl detail adds just enough drama to the dress to make it equally appropriate for a date night, dinner meeting, or after-work drinks.

If you haven’t heard of Harper Rose, you’re not alone! It is a relatively new line. Created by the design team at Eliza J, Harper Rose is a new collection of dresses. They are sold at Nordstrom and the dresses are made of beautiful fabrics and are predominately work-appropriate and more conservatively cut. I have two Harper Rose dresses so far; and I’m thrilled by the quality and fit of both (…though this one is definitely my favorite!)
As you can see from the above photo, this Harper Rose dress has pockets. Not to be completely basic over here, but you know that ya girl is thrilled by a dress with pockets lol. Truly though, a dress – especially one for the work day – really is made better by pockets. I love being able to have a lip chap on me at all times, and to throw my debit card in my pocket to run down for coffee without having to lug my entire handbag.
What really makes this dress though (and elevates it from any old black work-day dress), is the cut. The stand up collar creates such an interesting shape, and of course the faux pearl button on the collar is a beautiful touch.
There is also really great attention to detail in the stitching of this dress. If you look closely at the photo below you can see the cross shape stitching on the chest of the dress. It looks really beautiful up close.
This dress is currently sold out in black, but I am hopeful it will be restocked; so be sure to keep checking. It is available still in a beautiful ivory color though!
Today is my last day of work before the holidays! I fly out to my parents place (just outside Toronto, Ontario) tonight. I’m taking a full 10 days off to visit my friends and family in Ontario. I’m looking forward to a bunch of holiday things I have planned; including my mum and I spending a day baking up a storm before Christmas and one-on-one days with my niece Gracie and nephew Jimmy. My sister spends a month every summer with Gracie & Jimmy at my parents house and 3 years ago I started having an annual “Jimmy & Auntie Lee Day” and “Gracie & Auntie Lee Day” so that I can take the kiddos out and spend some quality one on one time with them. This year, since they’re going to be at my parents for the holidays too, I decided to do these days at Christmas time as well. I’m so looking forward to it!
I hope you all have exciting holiday plans ahead of you. And if you don’t, or if there’s something bringing you down know that you are not alone and that I am sending extra hugs your way!! Focus on the good things you have to celebrate – whether that’s time with family, time off work to relax, or just the deliciousness of a giant peppermint mocha. 🙂
