Pantone’s Color of the Year, 2019: Living Coral

Living Coral Makeup - Makeup finds in pantone's 2019 color of the year

Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2019 has officially been announced; and it is called Living Coral. It is such a beautiful warm shade that, honestly, is a nice change from the colors of the last few years. To me, this color exudes joy and is full of life.

Pantone’s Color of the Year always impacts fashion, home decor, & even beauty for the year ahead. In that light, I teamed up with London Drugs Beauty to find and review a selection of eyeshadows, lipsticks, nail polishes, and blushes in the Living Coral hue.

For those of you who don’t know, London Drugs is a leading drug store in Canada that was founded in Vancouver in 1945. The London Drugs beauty department is where I go for affordable makeup; they have an amazing selection of brands. They’ve even got you covered in simplifying your makeup hunt – they’ve got an entire page dedicated to Living Coral Makeup Finds!

Let’s get to my top Living Coral makeup picks! I’ll share a little bit about each category below, but watch the full videos at the end of this post to actually check out all the products!

Living Coral Eye Shadows:

I really like the idea of eyeshadows in Living Coral because you can create a really unique smokey eye look for spring & summer. My personal favorite Living Coral makeup find is the Makeup Revolution Re-loaded Palette in Newtrals 2. This palette is such a steal at under $10! I love how many complimentary colors to Living Coral there are in this palette so you can create a beautiful eye look. I also love the lighter Living Coral makeup shades in this palette for a quick sweep of eyeshadow for everyday wear.

Living Coral Blush

As I mention in the video, my favorite blush in Living Coral is the Lancome Blush Subtil Delicate Oil-Free Powder Blush in Coral Kiss. This was a tough call though, because I also really like the Elizabeth Arden Cool Glow Cheek Tint in Coral Daze. What I like about this Elizabeth Arden blush is the texture. It cools on contact with your skin (adding to a pretty glow) and it just goes on so smoothly creating a natural look.

Living Coral Lipstick

In the video I try on the Elizabeth Arden Sheer Kiss Lip Oil in Coral Caress along with the Plump Up Lipliner in Kiss of Coral. I picked this one because this, to me, is the perfect Living Coral shade. For a regular work day though, we all know there is no way I am doing a lipliner and a lipstick that requires an applicator. So, I wanted to let you know that my favorite lipstick find for everyday wear would be the Clinique Pop Matte Lipstick in Coral Pop. I love this lipstick – I have the Clinique Pop Matte in Ruby Pop and it is one of my favorite lipsticks. So when I found that the same collection had a Living Coral makeup shade I knew I had to try it! It goes on light and smooth and isn’t drying. Perfect for a quick and easy work day lip.

Living Coral Nail Polish

If you’re a bit uncertain about the Living Coral makeup trend, a great place to start is nail polish. It’s a less dramatic way to update your beauty look and keep it on trend. Three nail polishes I found at London Drugs in shades close to Living Coral (none are exact, but they are definitely “living coral inspired”) are: Essie Nail Lacquer in “Come Here”, Revlon ColorStay Gel Envy Nail Enamel in “Pocket Aces” (under  $7!) and,  OPI Nail Lacquer in “My Chihuahua Bites”; which is available in select London Drugs stores.

That color looks so good on you. I am not sure coral goes with my skin tone, I think a brighter hue is more for me but you wear it well.

Aw thank you so much! And I totally get that- but there are some really bright corals you should try out! If you’re looking for bold I’d recommend the Cover girl lipstick in coral crave (last one in the lipstick video) – it is very bright and so pretty!
