Happy Friday! What a weird week eh? When holidays fall in the middle of weeks it totally messes with my schedule. I am not sure my brain will fully be back in work mode until Monday. My outfits however were back in work mode all week haha. A pleated velvet midi skirt is a go to piece in my closet for work during the winter. You may remember my post with this dark green pleated velvet midi skirt from December. Today I had to share with you another pleated velvet midi skirt that I have been wearing; this gorgeous bronze/silver one. It’s such a unique colour, I’m not quite sure what to call it!
similar velvet skirts: 1 (and it’s so affordable!) and, 2 // similar ruffle tops: 1 and, 2 // heels // nude lipstick (one of my faves! shade is “mwah”)
I think the reason I love a good pleated velvet midi skirt is the versatility! They look great with a button down shirt, a fun blouse, or a lightweight turtleneck or sweater. My sheer ruffle sleeve blouse is a really old one from Forever 21… seriously though, it may be 5 or 6 years old by now, and I still wear it all the time! I’ve linked up two similar ones I could find online in case you’d like to recreate this look! 🙂
On a totally unrelated note: these photos were shot outside a cafe in Vancouver that I love, Bellagio cafe. This is actually one of my favorite blocks in Vancouver because it has (go figure) three amazing cafes all side by side. Bellagio has great food, Faubourg has amazing pastries and macarons, and Cafe Artigiano has delicious lattes/coffee based drinks.
Austin (my amazing photographer) and I shoot here a lot… mostly so we can reward ourselves with lattes and macarons after our shoot haha. In an effort to be healthier I’m cutting out sugar for the month of January (as well as doing sober January) and I swear what I am most disappointed about is not being able to get these goodies after photo shoots. Le Sigh. Anyone else giving up sugar for January!? Come at me with your tips on avoiding it, and any recipes you may have that help satisfy a sweet tooth!!
I don’t often talk about my makeup in my photos… mostly because I do the exact same thing 99.9% of the time lol. But, today I just wanted to mention my lipstick! This nude shade is suchhhhh a winner in my books. It’s a drug store find, coming in at less than $7, and I am really impressed with. My current favorite red lipstick is also this brand, I just love the quality. Figured I would share this with you all since it’s January and holy heck I think all of our bank accounts could use an affordable find right now #AmIRite lol.Â
Enjoy your Friday everyone! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend ahead. I’ve got my first “Real Talk” post of 2019 coming at ya on Monday, and I cannot wait to share it. It’s something I have mentioned in my stories over the past few months and have received so many comments on. Come back on Monday, you won’t want to miss it!
