How to Style a Scarf Print Midi Skirt

February 27, 2019

scarf print midi skirtOne fashion trend that I have been seeing everywhere is scarf print. From work day blouses, to summery mini dresses, scarf print pieces will be making a splash all over the fashion scene this spring and summer. When I saw this scarf print pleated midi skirt I knew it would be perfect to wear now and into spring. … And that it would be perfect for a ‘how to style a scarf print midi skirt post!

What drew me to this skirt is the half scarf print / half black mix. This mix feels very high fashion but is actually an affordable ($24!) piece. I like that the scarf print isn’t exactly ‘half and half’ but sits off centre. The illusion that creates is one that is very slimming/flattering.

Enough gushing about this particular scarf print skirt; let’s talk about how to style a scarf print midi skirt. It’s a bold piece, so it can be a bit intimidating when it comes to styling it, but it’s honestly really easy to create a professional, chic look.

If you want to play it safe with your outfit, style your scarf print midi skirt with a neutral top- black, cream or white (depending on the color palette of the scarf print) and a colored shoe/boot – picking one of the colors from the scarf print. Accessorize it with a neutral handbag and just one accessory – statement necklace, belt etc.

If you want something bold, print on print is really in right now, so find a matching (or coordinating) scarf print top and where it as a full set. It’s a very Versace vibe!

This outfit I’m wearing works well for ‘how to style a scarf print midi skirt’ right now especially as it is ‘winter friendly’ with a warm turtleneck and sock booties. Come spring, I’ll be opting for a white t-shirt and red and royal blue wedges / high heeled sandals.

One last thing – I highly recommend these sock boots! Balenciaga may have made the sock boot a trend, but thanks to Steve Madden this trend is now far easier on our bank accounts. These sock boots come in at under $100!

I should also mention that I didn’t link my exact belt as it is a vintage Chanel chain belt that I borrowed *cough* stole *cough* from my mum. I did find three similar gold chain belts that I have linked up for you if you’re interested!

I am having a long week you guys. … And yes, it’s only Wednesday. I’m taking the afternoon off work today to help out my brother / sister-in-law by picking up my oh-so-adorable, favorite-3-year-old Sally. She has dance class tonight and watching her in her little ballet outfit and listening to her ramble on (… she’s so damn chatty haha) about how much she loves dance the whole car ride home is one of my absolute favorite things. I am so excited for it.

We hear so much noise on social media, the internet, even around the office break room about self-care being all about bubble baths & face masks & yoga. For me, self-care doesn’t always look like that (though I do love a good bubble bath avec a glass of wine lol), for me being around my favorite tiny humans is absolutely a form of self-care. Just a friendly reminder not to get bogged down by what is recommended by others when it comes to self-care. Figure out what makes you happy during a busy week or during a rough day and do that. Self-care can be going for a run, going shoe shopping, hanging at the dog park, find out whatever it is for you and do more of that! 🙂

Exactly what I thought! And less overwhelming than full scarf print for anyone wanting to try out the trend but who is a bit unsure about it!

You styled that skirt so beautifully, Lee. Everything works harmoniously, with your hair being the perfect finishing touch 🙂 and yes, you’re absolutely right, self-care doesn’t have to be a form of physical activity or tangible, it can be anything from doing nothing to kicking the heck out of a boxing bag or just listening to a podcast. All it needs to do is uplift and calm your spirits.
