Embroidered Coat & Chicwish Tulle Skirt

March 15, 2019

I have wanted to shoot on the Brooklyn Bridge for years, so when I realized I had free time during New York Fashion Week last month I knew I had to get a morning shoot in at this gorgeous location. I wanted to shoot something feminine and ideal for ‘transitioning to spring’ weather; so I thought this tiered Chicwish tulle skirt paired with a winter coat would be perfect.

There is something so light & fresh about a tulle skirt – I think that’s what makes it so perfect to transition into spring. You can style it with warm winter layers on top but still feel like you have some spring vibes going on.

While we’re on the topic of tulle skirts – I really like them. I think they can look fun and juvenile if you want; but they can also be part of a more sophisticated, mature look. If you read my post a couple of months ago on handling criticism; you’ll know that one of the many things I got ripped apart for on a nasty internet thread was wearing a tulle skirt.

I’m still rocking tulle skirts years after this hate and I am so glad I didn’t let the negativity get to me. What I really liked about this Chicwish tulle skirt is the tiered silhouette. It adds maturity and sophistication to the tulle skirt style. If you are looking to get into tulle skirts but are worried about it being too juvenile, this is definitely the skirt for you.

In addition to my love for this Chicwish tulle skirt (which by the way is on sale!!), I have to talk about this embroidered faux fur coat. This is one of those rare finds that looks so luxe and high-end … but is actually an affordable find. This coat is from forever 21 (yep, can you believe it!?) and it is under $100. I can’t recommend it enough!

The embroidery detailing is stunning and the faux fur trim just adds that extra pop to make the coat feel luxurious. It’s also so warm and cozy! The faux fur lines the entire inside of the coat. It was freezing when we shot these photos and all three of us girls who were shooting kept shoving our hands and arms into this coat for warmth between shots lol.

What do you all think of tulle skirts? Would you wear this one? What do you think of this look? Let me know in the comments below! Oh and before I forget – happy Friday babes!! Hope you have an amazing day and a great weekend ahead.

Haha you are the queen of tulle skirts! And LOL I know, that was nuts eh! Remember when we stopped being able to feel our quads?!

  4. I love tulle skirts but not on myself – a pic on the Brooklyn Bridge during NYFW in March must have been cold! You are a champ for getting that shot done!

Maybe it’s about trying out different fits? Some are so poofy, others are more/less a-line, you may be able to find one you like! 🙂 And haha yes it was FREEZING, but fun!

I obsessed over tulle skirts for years, but I felt l always lacked the confidence to wear them in public with conviction. I love that you are donning your tulle skirt on the Brooklyn bridge and looking fabulous.

I definitely agree – i feel a bit silly when I first walk out in one, but the confidence just comes with wearing it more and starting not to care what people think! 🙂

I would totally wear this skirt! I’m a big fan of tulle and this one is so elegant. Not childish at all! It amazes me what things people label juvenile though. I see t-shirts all the time about “can’t adult today” or something like it. It’s odd to me that those shirts are labeled juvenile when something like a bright, fun skirt that brings people joy may be. Ugh. People, lol.

That’s such an interesting comparison – you’re so right people are more okay with those sort of tees than they are with bright fun pieces. Interesting!
