4 Trends to Wear This Spring (One Will Surprise You!)

April 29, 2019

While it’s fun to follow fashion trends, many you see on runways are not exactly wearable in every day life. Today, I am bringing you 4 wearable spring fashion trends. These are 4 trends that were prevalent in spring/summer runway shows but that are completely wearable for everyday.

Below each trend I’m sharing some of my top picks for items you can get right now. Since I know so many of you (my wonderful readers) are working professionals like myself, I made sure to include wear-to-work pieces for each of the trends.

Before you read on; any guesses yet what the trend is that you will not expect?? Leave me comment with your guess!

blue velvet blazer & pants (comes as a suit set) // black sandals // bralette

4 Wearable Spring Fashion Trends:

  1. Two-Toned Pieces
One trend that looks as great on the runway as it does in the boardroom, or on the beach is two-toned pieces. On the runway we saw orange & pink two toned Marc Jacobs pieces, navy & light blue Tibi pieces, and Chiara Boni millennial pink & black pieces. This is such a big trend for spring!
  2. Polka Dots
There is no shortage of polka dot print this spring. If you’re hesitant about adding a bold print to your wardrobe, opt for polka dot accessories like handbags or headbands.
  3. Yellow
The hottest singular color for spring is yellow. Yellow can feel daunting and many people feel like “they can’t wear yellow”, but it’s simply not true! The key is choosing a shade of yellow that compliments your complexion. If you’re a blonde stick with bright bold yellows or pastel yellows. Anything ‘medium’ blends too much with blonde hair. If you’ve got an olive complexion look for yellow’s with warm undertones. If you are darker skinned you can pretty much pull off every shade of yellow; mustard is particularly stunning though.

and the trend that will surprise you….

  4. Velvet!
Velvet has been popular for ages when it comes to luxe fall/winter pieces. This year though, we are seeing velvet pieces for spring and I for one am here for it. Such a cool trend! My velvet outfit is inspired by model/actress Cara Delvigne. Way back in July 2017, Cara Delvigne wore a blue velvet pant suit and the media went nuts photographing; since it was such a statement (and an odd choice for hot NY summer day). I’ve been wanting to style velvet for spring/summer ever since so I am thrilled about this trend.

My royal blue velvet suit comes as a blazer and pant set. The blazer, as you can see, is embellished with rhinestone buttons which I can’t get enough of. You won’t believe it, but this entire set is under $200! It’s an amazing Amazon find! I’ve included it in my “clothing and accessories” tab on my Amazon shop page. (There are also a ton of other great Amazon finds if you’re interested!) As far as sizing, it fits a bit tight but is true to size. If you are between sizes, size up, otherwise stick with your normal. I wear a size 6 and am wearing a medium in the suit.

Really?! I love it! Well if you like the look and not the feel this suit may be good because it is lined with a black fabric (not velvet)
