How is it already May 31?! This month just flew by and totally felt like summer, which was amazing. As I do every month, I’m going to share with you my favorite things from the past month.
Fashion / Beauty:
1. Espadrilles:
I only got these shoes a few days ago, but I love them so much that they already top my list of fashion favorites for the month! They are only $100 and have that perfect blend of dressy/casual. They are a similar style to this season’s popular Chanel version!
2. “Away From My Desk” T-Shirt:
This tee is so freaking cute! I will be taking this with me on every vacation this summer (and just wearing it to brunch or the beach here in Vancouver!)
3. Ruth Bader Ginsberg Coffee Mug:
I mean, come on. How can you not be obsessed with this mug?! #NotoriousRBG #femaleempowerment #goals
Ps. I’ve linked it up on Etsy, but if you are in Canada, it’s also included on my home page of Amazon.ca finds! Check that out for a ton of great stuff!
4. Halter Maxi Dress: This dress is one that I got last year and have been wearing a lot this month. I just noticed that Eliza J reintroduced it again this year, so it’s back at Nordstrom if you are interested!! It’s seriously the prettiest dress.
5. Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer with Self Tanner:
I have been preaching about this product on my instagram stories. I hate how pale I am after the winter, but I suck at applying self-tanners (I have no patience and can never get it even). This is great because I haven’t had any problems with it being streaky, and there is no down time for it dry!! As soon as you apply it and get out of the shower you can pat dry with your towel and go about your day.
Shop My Fashion / Beauty Favorites:
Reading / Watching / Listening:
1. The Society – TV Show
I tried out this Netflix show one night not expecting much, but actually really liked it! It’s a slow start – I was definitely not hooked by the end of episode 1 – but by the end of episode 2 I was into it. It’s kind of teen drama-y but with undertones of political drama. It’s sort of Lord of the Flies meets Teen Drama. It’s worth a watch!
2. What Day Is It? – Podcast
I just discovered this podcast by two local Vancouver girls and have been loving it this month! The have different guests on discussing things you need to know, from how to take care of plants, to dating in our social media /internet age, to body positivity.
Eating / Drinking:
I’ve been doing the Faster Way to Fat Loss Program all this month (check out my “5 Things I Wish I Knew Before Starting Faster Way to Fat Loss” post if you missed it!) My favorite eats & drinks then have all been relatively healthy and homemade!
1. Low Carb Coconut Flour Bread:
This is SO FREAKING GOOD. Even if you aren’t watching carbs, I would recommend this bread recipe. As someone who has been gluten free for years, bread is something I have always missed and this is some of the best I’ve had. It’s delicious.
2. Healthy Raw “Cookie Dough”:
I had been making this recipe by Chocolate Covered Katie for years, but forgot about it for a while and re-discovered it this month. I don’t think it tastes exactly like cookie dough in the way that people suggest it does (it had so much press buzz and has so many reviews) but I do love it!
Blog Posts – Ones I shared:
1. What You Should Know About the New Abortion Laws – A Criminal Lawyer’s Perspective:
This post is one of my favorite posts not just of this month, but all time. (Up there with my post on the tampon tax and why, if you’re female, you’re paying more taxes!) I really love getting to educate and share information on issues that matter to me, that I think all women need to know about. This was a controversial post, but I really believe it needed to be written and, honestly, I’m just really proud of it.
2. How to Style Polka Dots for Spring / Summer:
This one is probably my favorite outfit of the month! I just love the two contrasting polka dot pieces paired together.
Blog Posts – Ones I Read:
1. The Truth Behind Reality TV Casting – by Lauryn Cakes
I just found this post by my girl Lauryn so interesting! She talks about her experience being interviewed for a reality show.
2. My Favorite Places to Shop for Swimwear – Life with Emily
Swimwear shopping can be stressful / not the most fun. I loved this post by Emily rounding up some of the places she finds great suits, and her picks from each retailer. I have been on a swimsuit shopping bender lately (I think I bought 4 just this month alone 🙈) and I am totally blaming Emily for this haha!
That bread looks so good! I currently have candida and I am on a strict diet with no starch or sugar. Just made a lemon coconut bread and it was so good!
Jennifer
Effortlessly Sophisticated
It’s honestly delicious! Can you have coconut flour when you’re eliminating Candida or no? If so, try this, youll love it! I should try your lemon coconut bread, that sounds amazing! Do you have a recipe you can share??
This is so cute! That “Away from my Desk” shirt is so cute, I need that for my vacay this summer. <3 Also love those polka dot pants as well!!

It’s so good right!! Makes me smile just looking at it!
I love seeing all the recipes for cookie dough. Such a yummy, healthy snack!
Agreed!!!
Espadrilles are my favorite style of shoes to wear this season.
Me too! This is my first season wearing them and I quickly became a huge fan. They’re so comfy but look so much more polished than throwing on a sneaker!
So I just finished The Society and I completely agree that it has a slow start but I got hooked quickly!! I’m definitely going to have to try the coconut bread recipe. I’m not gluten-free but prefer low carb and wheat was any easy thing for me to cut out!
xo, Laura
Oh ya then you will LOVE the recipe! It’s honestly so delicious!
I need that yellow tshirt in my life asap! So so cute! xo
