Can you believe it’s only 9 days until Christmas?! As always, the holiday season is been flying by! Today I wanted to talk about something important to me; traditions with my girlfriends. I’m sharing ideas for 3 holiday traditions to start with your girlfriends this year.
It’s such a busy time of year that it can be hard to find the time (or find enough time) to hang out with your girlfriends. As we get older friendships often get put on the back burner and I think it’s really important to continue to protect your time with your friends and invest in your friendships. My girlfriends are so important to me and I feel really lucky to have some incredible women in my life. This year I really focused on how I could maintain and grow these friendships despite the holiday chaos.
To that end I came up with three traditions that my girlfriends and I are doing this season, and will maintain doing for years to come. I hope these inspire you and that you try one (or all!) of them out with your girlfriends this season.
Since the holidays are so busy, you’re likely not able to see your friends as much as you would like. It’s so strange that December is so jam packed and then January comes and suddenly our calendars are free. So, one great thing to do knowing that you may not see your friends during December, is give the gift a friend date in the New Year! This could be planning a mani/pedi date for the first week of January, planning a day of skiing/snowboarding or just picking a day to meet for dinner and have a proper post-holiday catch up.
Not only does this help get something set in stone for when you’ll actually get to see your friend; but it also gives you something to look forward to during what can be a bit of a gloomy / grumpy month.
If you can find time in the next two weeks; plan a brunch or high tea with a group of your girlfriends! Since you likely don’t have time for a bunch of individual coffee dates with friends, getting a group together so you can see everyone is always a great thing during the busy season. Everyone likely needs a break from the Christmas shopping and family time, so having an annual holiday brunch is a great tradition to start! As you can see from these pictures, my friends Anca, Britta and I had very mimosa-heavy brunch at my place a few weeks ago and it was such a blast!
You certainly don’t need to spend a ton of money on gifts, but if you do want to get your friends gifts, why not consider having everyone pick a small group gift?! It’s a great way to stay on budget and also have gifts that make you feel connected to your group of girlfriends.
As you can see in these pictures, Anca, Britta and I are all wearing wrap bracelets. Victoria Emerson was kind enough to gift me some bracelets and I immediately knew I wanted to pick ones for Anca & Britta.
Victoria Emerson wrap bracelets are great because they can be a group gift so you all have the same thing, but, you can personalize it for each individual friend. I got Britta a classic wrap bracelet – so her style and goes with everything – and I got Anca this gold and silver mixed wrap bracelet (very her style) with lots of sparkle. I got myself a green and white wrap bracelet which I figured would be especially perfect for my vacation to Mexico in January.
I hope these holiday traditions inspire you all to start some with your girlfriends this year. Happy holidays!!

Exactly!!
I really love the idea of a date and a brunch. Spending time together is so much more important than the typical gift idea. I also like the idea of matching tattoos (for friends, not significant others, lol).
I so agree- quality time is so much better than presents!
These all sound like so much fun! Definitely going to implement some of these traditions next year for the holidays!

Haha GIRL me too. Mimosas make everything better lol
Making sure to set aside time with your friends during the holidays is a great idea, it’s so easy for everyone to get wrapped up in being ‘busy’ that you don’t see each other until January!
