Creative Christmas Home Decor

December 12, 2019

Can you believe it is already December 12th? HOW?! lol. I have been wanting to get this post up sharing Alex & my creative Christmas home decor for weeks but time just kept getting away from me. For any of you last minute shoppers / decorates (*cough* me all the time *cough*) I hope this post will give you some ideas for holiday home decor and, more importantly give you some creative ideas!

We are decorating an apartment, without a fire place (like so many of you have) so I hope some of these ideas for how to decorate will help you out and get you in the Christmas spirit!

Our Christmas Home Decor 2019

Living Room / Main Area:

You can see a close up of our tree in the opening photo, but these gives you a better look at the general layout. I knew I wanted a flocked tree this year and when I found this slim one online I knew it was perfect! If you’re in an apartment our tight on space I highly recommend a slim tree since you can more easily fit it in your space without sacrificing height! You’ll also notice a few decorative holiday pillows and a DIY image that I framed.

My pillows were Homesense finds, but I’ve linked similar ones below. As far as the DIY… how cute is this “Santa To Do List”?! I saw a graphic similar to this on pinterest and decided to make up my own to-do list for Santa and frame it. Such an easy and affordable way to add a piece of holiday decor (and it’s perfect for all you type-A, list obsessed people like me lol.

Stockings:

Like many of you, we don’t have a fireplace in our home, so we had to get creative with stockings. I’ve seen stocking hangers for shelves, but I wanted something a bit more creative. Both Alex & I are fans of ‘modern farmhouse’ style decor, so when I saw this mini wooden ladder I knew it would perfect as a decor piece that could hold our stockings.

I picked up matching monogram stockings for us, and cannot recommend these highly enough if you are looking for stockings. They were super affordable but the quality is AMAZING. They far exceeded my expectations.

Tablescape:

I wanted to add a bit of festive cheer to our dining room table without going overboard. We have grey placemats (I highly recommend them) and white dishes so I wanted to add pops of red and green to tie in our living room decor. These holiday napkin pouches were too cute to pass up! I also added a silky red table runner and some bottle brush mini trees as decor. My bottle brush tree set is almost sold out, so I’ve linked them but also a similar really affordable set!

Coffee Station & Bar Cart:

If you’ve been around here a while you likely are well aware of my addiction to coffee. I love my nespresso. Love, love, love. Therefore, I couldn’t resist decorating one of my favorite spots in the house for the holidays too! I picked up these mugs this year as Alex & my Christmas mugs and got this Gingerbread House Jar which is probably my FAVORITE piece of holiday decor.

We use the Gingerbread House jar to hold our Nespresso capsules! I love it WAY too much, it makes me smile every morning. Both our mugs and gingerbread jar were local finds, but I’ve linked up similar ones for you below in case you too want to create a holiday coffee station!

I also decorated my bar cart for the holidays – you can read a full post I did; teaming up with other bloggers to share our bar carts. Check out – 6 ways to style a bar cart for the holidays!

Bedroom:

I love Christmas so much that I had to decorate our bedroom as well (Alex is such a good sport for letting me do this!) I found the cutest Naughty & Nice pillows that are reversible. Ie. each one says both naughty & nice. I added them and a plaid cozy blanket to the foot of our bed, again tying in the red and green from the living room decor. I am so in love with this Christmas home decor!

It’s a bit hard to see here, but I also added mini flocked Christmas trees to each of our bedside tables. We’ve added some of our own unique ornaments to each tree. Mine has – no surprise, a champagne bottle and ballerina. Alex’s has a star wars guy and a lego piece. I’ve linked up similar products below!

  12. I love that cute gingerbread house! I live in a small space and think I’m going to copy how you hung the stockings. I haven’t tried hanging them off an object instead of being on the wall or above the fireplace.
