The start of December means the start of the holiday season (yay!) and it also means the start of something really close to my heart – Dressember.
What is Dressember?
Dressember is a movement that uses fashion to advocate for women who’ve been exploited. It challenges participants to wear a dress for ALL 31 DAYS IN DECEMBER, and in so doing raise funds and spread awareness about human trafficking / modern day slavery.
Where do the funds raised by Dressember go?
Dressember partners with a few different organizations to directly impact the fight to rescue, protect, and restore the lives of trafficking victims and survivors worldwide. Their key partner is the International Justice Mission, but others include Anti-Slavery International & Love146. The full list of partners is on their website.

You can also donate. If you’re interested, here is my donation page, but I encourage you to donate to anyone!

You can also help just by shopping! Dressember has a marketplace! There are quite a few dress designs, and they are made ethically made by women in Nepal. The dress I am wearing in all these photos is the Terry Dress. I love the cozy, comfy fit of this dress and (of course) that it has pockets. It’s a great dress for layering under a faux fur vest or a blazer to keep warm!
If you have any questions I’d be more than happy to answer them to the best of my ability! Also; let me know if you decide to join me in doing this! I’d love to be in touch with anyone else who is participating so I can cheer you on, etc!
What a great campaign! Those buttons at marketplace are fun too! You can also promote it at my Fancy Friday linkup party!
Aren’t they cool! and yes, it’s such a great campaign! And thanks- I’ll try to remember to do that!
This is a great campaign to raise awareness off. Love your red dress too. Thanks for sharing at The Weekly Link Up.
Thank you so much Claire!
I have never heard about Dressember, but I am so glad you have posted about it! What a great cause to raise money and awareness and you look beautiful too!

Thank you so much Elise. It’s such a great cause!
What a wonderful cause! I can’t believe I’ve never heard of it before :/ I’d do it if I worked in a traditional office, but my job is definitely not conducive to dressing up (especially not in a dress). I love that dress you’re wearing. It’s kind of a shirt dress (I finally bought a shirt dress but haven’t worn it yet) and the color is beautiful on you! Thanks so much for bringing this great cause to our attention.

Isn’t it a great campaign! And I totally get that, it’s not something everyone can participate it – but everyone can get involved (donating or raising awareness).
I have never heard of dressember before, sounds like a great campaign #whatifchristmas@_karendennis
It really is! I love the idea of creatively helping such an important cause
This is my favorite blog post of yours! For many years now my favorite groups to donate to, or help however I can, are the groups dedicated to raising awareness and working on rescue of human trafficking victims.
Thank you so much! and that’s great that you support such worth organizations.
