My Spanx faux leather leggings have been a closet staple for me for years. I recently polled my instagram followers about fall content for LegalLee Blonde & one repeated request was to show multiple ways to style an item rather than just sharing it once. I wear my faux leather leggings a ton during the fall/winter so I figured they would be the perfect item to share in a “5 ways to style” post!
Looking for even more style inspiration? I’ve teamed up with a group of 8 other women to show you how we style our faux leather leggings. Their outfits and blog links are at the end of this post. This collaboration is part of my friend Laura’s “Chic in Every Shade” blog series, where bloggers of all different skin tones team up to share how they style things. It’s a great way to see an item on many different women and to increase representation in the fashion blogger industry.
Before I get into my five outfits, let’s chat about Spanx faux leather leggings and whether they are worth it. 👀
Coming in at $98 Spanx leggings are not cheap. In my opinion, they’re 100% worth the price though! Other faux leather leggings fade easily ( the faux leather gets cracked looking ). I’ve had my Spanx ones for 3 years and they still look brand new! The other selling point is that the Spanx leggings don’t stretch out with time or wear. I machine wash mine and they still haven’t stretched out at all. They fit true to size (I wear a M) but remember they are supposed to be tight – they are Spanx after all! You can buy them either directly from the Spanx website or from Nordstrom.
If you’re interested in trying out the faux leather leggings look but the Spanx are out of your price range, I’ve heard from other bloggers that these faux leather leggings are a good Spanx dupe, and they’re under $20! They have the same thick waist band as the Spanx and have the same ‘ not too shiny ‘ faux leather look. I haven’t personally tried them, but as I said, a ton of people have told me they are a great Spanx leggings dupe!
Ps. If you want more save vs. splurge finds, be sure to follow me on LiketoKnow.it! I share a few a week! You’ll also sometimes find good ‘dupes’ or save items in my weekly Friday Finds!
My go to date night look in the fall and winter: a bra top, a blazer & my faux leather Spanx! Add in heels (or OTK boots if it’s cold), and a statement necklace and you are good to go! My exact bra top pictured here is sold out, but I’ll link similar ones one along with my plaid boyfriend blazer!
On fall weekend’s my go to outfit is probably this: a tunic, faux leather leggings and OTK boots. Faux leather pairs so well with suede (texture mixing is an easy way to look chic) and a comfy tunic length sweater just makes you feel cozy and fall ready.
For an effortless outfit, throw a white tee on with your faux leather leggings and call it a day! I like to add a black bralette or tank under mine for a layered look but either way this outfit looks polished without trying hard.
Dark green shades look great in fall and winter and a cozy green sweater pairs really well with faux leather leggings! My exact sweater is sold out, but I’ll link some similar options below.
When the temperatures get cooler you can’t go wrong pairing faux leather with faux fur. I have three faux fur coats now, including the above leopard one (I’ll link similar ones below) and they make me so happy! It’s like getting dressed into a giant teddy bear hug lol.
Below are the links to the other bloggers I’ve mentioned I’ve teamed up with to share our faux leather leggings looks. Head to their blogs to check them out! I hope you all have an awesome day ahead of you! It is randomly summer 2.0 here in Vancouver – it’ supposed to 80 degrees today! So while I have a busy day of Court and trial prep (#LawyerLife) I plan on taking advantage of the warmer weather after work! I think Alex and I are going to go for dinner on a patio (socially distanced of course) and for a walk on the sea wall. Ever since moving to Vancouver 6 years ago I’ve made a point of getting down to Ocean for a walk or just to hang out by the beach at least once a week. I find it so calming and good for my mental health!
