Work Edit: End of Summer Work Wear

September 1, 2020

With summer coming to an end *tear* and many of us going back to offices / work environments for the first time in months it’s definitely strange trying to find summer work wear looks that make you feel confident and don’t break the bank. Ann Taylor reached out to me a few weeks back and asked if I would like to pick an outfit for end of summer work wear so of course I jumped at the chance to find a cute outfit to wear now, focusing on staple pieces I can transition into fall and, of course, wear again next summer.

end of summer work wear

ruffle neck halter blouse // off-white blazer // camel crop pants // similar eyeglasses chain – save & splurge // similar nude bow heels – save, mid-range, splurge

The first item I picked was this ruffle neck halter blouse. It is hands down my favorite Ann Taylor piece! The website calls the color  ‘ice blue’ but it’s more of a lilac (which I love). The neckline makes a statement while still looking professional. The best thing about the blouse though, in my opinion, is that the color pairs perfectly with camel, white and other neutrals for summer but works equally well with black and navy for the winter. This is a work day item I’ll be wearing a ton this year!

After picking the halter blouse I wanted to grab a pair of pants to go with them. My wardrobe was lacking in beige and camel tones so I went with these wide leg camel color crops. What’s great about these is that they come in Petite, Regular & Tall so you can ensure you get the best fit for your body. I’m wearing a size 6 Regular and they fit perfectly.

Last but not least I wanted to grab a lightweight blazer to throw over this look when I’m going into Court – or just went the AC gets cranked at the office! This double breasted off-white blazer worked perfectly for that. I love the detail of the tortoise shell / brown colored buttons, it gives the blazer a more summery relaxed look. The oversized double breasted cut is also great to wear on the weekends with a crop top or tank and jeans!

My pearl embellished glasses chain is by Toronto designer Raquel Green over at @bohoglasseschains and I can’t recommend it enough. She has a bunch of other gorgeous glasses chain styles as well!

I’ve linked up ‘similar items’ to all of my accessories worn here (glasses chain and nude heel pumps) in case you’re interested!

I hope your work week is off to a great start. Yesterday was so nuts for me and today’s to-do list is looking equally as busy. Luckily I’m taking some time to relax tonight (I literally scheduled it into my planner so I *have* to do it!) I ordered this bath pillow from Amazon and it arrived yesterday so I am 100% relaxing with a glass of wine in the bath tonight! I just finished a couple of the books I had on my ‘to read’ list so I need to find some new ones! Any books you’ve loved lately that you would recommend? Let me know!

I would never have thought to mix lilac with camel, but the combination is stunning! It’s such a trendy vibe with the glasses chain too. You did an amazing job putting together a work ensemble that can be worn now and later with pieces that can be mixed and matched with other options to constantly create new looks! Stunning!

  9. I love how you styled this!! It is so nice to see work clothes and not the lounge/active wear that has been everywhere!

Haha agreed! I love me some tie-dye sweats, but it sure has felt good to put on more professional clothes again the past few weeks!
