Everyone’s favorite comic book duo, Betty & Veronica, makes for an easy DIY Halloween costume for you and your bestie. Whether you’re hanging out over Zoom this year or actually going out for Halloween, this costume is a great one you can re-create with items in your closet (and/or items you can buy and wear again!) Let’s go through some ideas /tips on what to wear for this costume:
The #1 thing to do for Betty is rock a super high, super slicked back ponytail. Easy peasy. As far as the outfit, go for a faux collar sweater (or a button down shirt with a crew neck sweater on top). I’ll link a few of my favorite afforable faux collar sweaters below for anyone looking to buy one! For your bottoms, Betty wears a lot of skinny jeans and a lot of a-line mini skirts, so either would be a great option. Add some tennis shoes (crisp white is very Betty) and you are good to go!
Veronica, the total opposite of Betty, loves glitz and glam. Look for dresses or skirts and blouses that are designer or designer-inspired. The jewel collar velvet dress above is an old one of mine from Ted Baker – and fun fact: Veronica actually wore this exact dress on an episode of Riverdale back in season one!! Brands like Ted Baker and Kate Spade are very Veronica, or opt for anything that looks a bit over the top. Luxe fabrics like silk and velvet are your best bet. Add some heels and you are Veronica ready!

For anyone wondering, the “Veronica” in this costume is my friend Anca! (she’s the blogger behind Gracefully Glam). We met up yesterday to catch up and decided why not dress up for Halloween and, clearly, take these photos. I am definitely the Veronica and she is definitely the Betty in our relationship lol, but our hair made it way too obvious that we needed to reverse those roles for this costume!
It was so great to catch up with Anca yesterday, I hadn’t seen her in a while and it was definitely good for both my head and my heart to have some downtime catching up with a good friend. Also (in case anyone is wondering) I should just add that we took all necessary COVID precautions when hanging out yesterday. She is in my ‘bubble’, and even still we made sure to wear masks when sitting together indoors and of course were constantly washing our hands and hand sanitizing when hanging out outdoors and shooting these photos.
You both look so cute!

Aw that’s so sweet, thank you Lovely!
How cute is this? I love a good duo costume, and Betty and Veronica are such a great pair. I love that you mentioned the comic part because I think so many people have no clue they were comic characters before Riverdale characters haha! I used to stand in line at the grocery store and flip through their books and Archie and Jughead!
Haha no way! People don’t know that!? That’s crazy lol. I totally remember doing the same thing in line at the grocery store as a kid!
You both are the cutest! I loved reading this comic as a kid and I enjoy the show Riverdale now! xo Jaimie http://www.jaimietucker.com

Thank you so much Candace!
How cute are y’all!! Love this idea for a costume and it’s so easy!!
Thank you so much! And exactly! I wanted something people could pull together from clothes in their closet and/or with clothes they could buy but wear again in normal life, not just as a costume.
Seriously loving these simple costumes. I’d definitely wear something like this for Halloween.
