Happy #WeddingWednesday! The last few wedding posts I’ve shared have been more ‘guide for brides’ type posts (like tips for reducing wedding planning stress and must-read tips from a wedding photographer). Today then, I wanted to share a more personal update on how our wedding planning is going, for any readers who may be interested or wondering!
Before I get into the wedding planning update – I just have to mention that these photos were taken by the insanely talented Lydia Ivy Photography. I can’t recommend her enough for engagement or wedding photos. I also wanted to share a link to my white maxi dress, which in my humble opinion is the perfect engagement photo / wedding event dress! You may recognize it because quite a few celebrities have worn it; most notably Kate Middleton.
As far as a planning update: We are still planning on having our two weddings – a micro-wedding July 10th and a big wedding celebration October 8th. Depending on what the COVID restrictions are we may still move the big celebration into 2022. Since we are still a bit uncertain about the October one we’ve been putting less work into it, with the one big exception that we hired a wedding planner! I’m so excited to be working with Katie & Co to plan this celebration. More details on that to come!
With our focus on the July wedding, we quickly realized that having a very small guest count doesn’t actually translate to less work or a proportionally-lower cost since so many of the big costs are fixed regardless of how big or small the wedding is. For example, an officiant, a photographer and a videographer.
The tasks we’ve actually completed for the Ontario wedding are:
– location (the fact that it’s my parents farm for both ceremony & reception makes this easy)
– guest list (20 people – family and Alex’s best man Jeremy and my maid of honor Maddie)
– string trio to play (Red Soda Band)
– florist (Threads & Blooms)
– my wedding dress
– maid of honor dress
– flower girl dresses
– some personal / sentimental touches we’re adding to the wedding (I can’t wait to share these with you – stay tuned!)
Still to do:
– videographer
– officiant
– caterer
– baker (wedding cake)
– furniture rental company
– makeup artist
There are so many things still to do and one thing that really surprised me about planning is how long it takes to ‘complete’ each thing. From researching vendors, to setting up and having zoom meetings it’s pretty crazy how much time each thing takes. If you’re from Ontario and have any recommendations for any of the above, definitely let me know!
Until then, Alex and I will be doing our best to get through the planning process with as much joy and laughter as possible (wine helps).
XO
Lee
Oh yea I didn’t expect that it crossing off a task would take a while too when we were wedding planning. But it sounds like you are on track!

I am SO excited about that part haha. The place we’re looking at as 15 flavors to choose from and they all sound amazing.
I love the idea of a micro wedding with everything that’s been going on 2020 and 2021!
Thanks Anna! Yeah, it’s definitely what makes the most sense at this point for us!
These photos are beautiful! Can’t believe how quickly your wedding is coming up, it looks like you’re on track with everything (trust me, the final month are two are a whirlwind!). I think focusing on the micro-wedding is best with everything going on. Good luck with the rest of your planning!
Thank you so much Amanda!
