I shared five spring hairstyle ideas for long hair on Instagram last week and asked my followers to vote for their favorites. Today I’m sharing tutorials for what were voted the top 3 spring hairstyles for long hair!
These three spring hairstyles are trendy but no to complicated and don’t require a lot of products or tools to do. All three hairstyles will work on medium length hair as well. 🙂
Step 1: Start by creating a center part. Take the top section of your hair and pull to the back center and do the first move of a regular braid.
Step 2: While holding the 1st section in one hand, section off another piece from the L side and bring it towards the center. Rather than incorporating it into the braid by going over (as you would with a French Braid) tuck this section of hair under. Repeat this process on the next side & again for a 3rd piece on each side. Finish the dutch bread & tie with a clear elastic.
This sounds confusing but really isn’t! Check out this instagram video tutorial for visual aid.
Step 3: Add three clips, two on the one side, clipped to strand two and three, and one on the other side, clipped to strand 2. The asymmetrical look is trendy for spring. Have fun with your clips! My tortoise shell clips are here (the rectangle) and here (the initials L and B).
Other popular clips for spring/summer are gold clips, marble clips, or pearl clips. I’ll link some favorites below:
Step 1: Start with a center part and curl your hair. I love this curling wand.
Step 2: Take a 1/2 inch piece from the front of each side.
Step 3: Braid each piece towards the back and secure with a clear hair elastic. Take the L braid and place it where you want across the back of your head. Secure with pins. Take the R side and lay it on top of the other braid, tucking the end underneath the other braid and securing with a pin.
Step 4: Add fresh flowers or flower hair pins. Below are some of my favorite flower pins:
Step 1:Center part your hair and curl your hair as you normally would.
Step 2: Take the the top half of your hair, starting from about an inch above your ears and pull to the back.
Step 3: Secure with an elastic and then add a giant scrunchie on top. Giant scrunchies are a huge trend for spring/summer! I’ll link my 10 pack of giant scrunchies below.

Aaaaand suddenly I’m wishing I had long hair (or at least extensions). You can do so much with it! The most I can do with my choppy bob is well, nothing except leave it straight haha! These are such gorgeous styles!

Thanks Sarah! It’s not too hard, I swear! It just takes practice. Check out my instagram reel video- you can see how i do the dutch braid!
I’ve done all of these – I usually go for the crown braid but I do love a good dutch braid or half up half down!

All of these styles are beautiful! I love the dutch braid! Don’t think my hair is thick enough to pull that off though!
Jill – Doused in Pink
Thank you! And yes, it does help to have thick hair, but if you can add a volumizing dry shampoo in before hand which really helps!
Omg LOVE all these hairstyles!
