Today I’ve got a Chloé Woody sandals review! These gorgeous designer sandals were my birthday present to myself. 🙊 I wanted to take some time to wear them before giving you all my full review, and now that I’ve had them for a month and have broken them in I’ve got the full scoop to share. First let’s chat the basics:
Chloé is a luxury French fashion house and is often cited as the epitome of ‘French cool girl’ fashion. It’s like Chanel’s younger, more laid-back sister haha. It was founded in the 50’s and is well loved by celebs like Emma Stone & Cameron Diaz. Over the years Chloé has had a number of iconic creative directors, including the late Karl Lagerfeld. Chloé is currently lead by Creative Director Gabriela Hearst (who just stepped into the role this spring).
The Woody sandal is a Chloé staple – a thick strapped wear-with-everything sandal. It comes in a number of colors, including black (which I have), cream, blush pink, & tan.
The woody sandals cost $375 US, or $477 CAD. You can sometimes find them on sale at retailers like SSense or 24S, but it is rare that they have them in stock. It’s always worth a check though as you can save up to $120!
Obviously I can’t speak to whether paying $375 for sandals is worth it for you; that’s an individual choice. But as far as quality, longevity etc. that I can speak to:
I am very impressed by how well made they are. Even Alex when he saw them (shocked at how much $ I was spending on sandals lol) said “wow you can actually tell these are really high quality!”. The stitching the padding, the cut, all of it will hold up well over time. They are made in Italy and very well made.
The style is also one that can be worn with so many outfits – you can easily dress them up or down and the unique shape of the toe adds a bit more sophistication to an otherwise laid back sandal. These will be sandals you can wear for years to come.
Sizing:
Everyone says these sandals run small and honestly, I don’t think they do if we’re talking solely about the length of the shoe. (ps. I am fighting making a shoe pun around sole-ly 😂). The length of the shoe, I think fits true to size but where I think the recommendation to size up comes from is that the straps are quite tight across the foot and since they are fabric there isn’t a lot of give. So; if you have wide feet then definitely go up one size. I’m a size 9 and my feet are wide. I went with a 40 (size 10 US) and they fit perfectly. I don’t mind the added length at all and the fabric fits comfortably across my foot. Which leads me to my next Chloé woody sandals FAQ…
Comfort:
In general, I don’t find sandals without a backstrap comfortable. I find they slip around my foot a fair bit and cause blisters, so I don’t wear them for any sort of long distances / long days. That said, I find these to be as comfortable as any other sandal of this cut. I actually find the fabric holds my foot better than a lot of other sandals so there is a bit less wiggling which means a bit more comfort. I would say these are as comfortable as you would imagine a shoe cut like this would be. They’re totally wearable but not the shoe I’d go for when opting for peak comfort.
⭐ Overall Rating ⭐:
4.5 / 5 Stars. These were 100% worth it for me. They are versatile, really chic and by a brand that I just adore. If they were truly comfortable I would give them 5 stars, but alas 4.5 stars it is. If you like Chloé and you like the look of these, 100% treat yourself!
Where to Buy?
Like I mentioned above you can sometimes find them at a discount at SSense or 24S. Absent that, the main retailers I would get them at are Bloomingdale’s, Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstrom. For my fellow Canadians, I recommend Bloomingdale’s (I ordered mine from there) because they do flat rate shipping to Canada and it’s way cheaper than many other US stores.
These are fun sandals! I love the pink ones, of course!
