How We Asked Our Flower Girls & Ring Bearers

January 27, 2021

Happy Wednesday! For today’s “Wedding Wednesday” update I wanted to share a post on one of my favorite parts of wedding planning so far; my ‘flower girl proposal’! If you follow me on social media you probably know how obsessed I am with my nieces, nephews, and goddaughters. While so much of our wedding plan is uncertain (thank you global pandemic), having kiddos involved in the wedding is one thing Alex and I have always been sure of.

First let’s talk about my flower girls proposal. I knew I wanted to ‘propose’ to them with a gift, just like I did with my bridesmaids. We’re going to have 4 flower girls! 🙊 I asked my nieces / goddaughter with what i think is an adorable, and affordable, flower girl proposal gift – a custom card with an initial necklace.

My nieces absolutely loved their necklaces and were so excited about the whole thing. I love that these proposal cards are customizable – not only with their name but with the question as well. We are having my oldest niece Gracie and goddaughter Adelaide as junior bridesmaids, so I also gave them this proposal gift but, of course, with the card saying ‘junior bridesmaid’.

Up next: ring bearers! There are far more girls in my life than boys (I have two nephews – but one of them is in his 20’s!) So, we decided to have 2 ring bearers – my nephew Caleb and my niece Sally. I just love the idea of having a female ring bearer! I’m going to have Sally wear a suit and bow tie and I just know she is going to be the coolest little kiddo! I can’t wait!

Since I couldn’t find any ‘ring bearer proposal gifts’ that weren’t specifically designed for boys, I decided to make my own. Sally loves coloring so I decided to make a coloring page of a girl that looks like Sally and ask the question on the coloring page. As you can see in the photos below, Sally was super excited about it! She’s such a ham in front of the camera haha.

I’m really excited to have our wedding party organized. In total we’ve got a best man, matron of honor, 2 bridesmaids, 2 groomsman, 2 junior bridesmaids, 1 junior groomsman, 4 flower girls and 2 ring bearers! It’s going to busy haha!

Other Wedding Planning Updates:

Next up on our wedding planning schedule: hiring a wedding planner! We’ve met (virtually) with three planners and just need to make our final decision this week. I’ve actually learned a lot from the process of hiring a wedding planner and will definitely share a blog post over the coming months on questions to ask when trying to pick a wedding planner!

Omg!! So cute! I love the idea of so many kids in a bridal party, it’s so whimsical!! So are your Jr, Bridesmaids part of the flower girl team? Or is there two more flower girls? I can’t wait for the next Wedding Wensday!!! Ekkkk!!

Haha thank you! Most people think we’re nuts haha! But we both love kids so much and we’re lucky to have so many kids in our lives. We knew it would feel weird to not have that included in our day. And great question – there are 2 more flower girls! Haha. We’ve got 4 flower girls AND 2 junior bridesmaids (the junior bridesmaids will be 14 and 12 by the wedding date!).

that’s exactly how i feel! They are the cutest! I keep joking that I need to have someone live streaming them walking down the aisle so I can watch, since I won’t be there yet to watch it haha.

Okay, I love that you’re going to have one of your nieces as a ring-bearer. That’s so cute! We had “wing-bearers” as a pun because we love chicken wings and my nephews carried a fake bowl of buffalo wings down the aisle with our rings on top hahaha. It was super dorky and cheesy but a lot of fun.

  8. This is so thoughtful and sweet! My daughter was blessed to be a flower girl twice in the past and it was so fun for her.
